Win2k8 RADIUS through user auth vs Win 2k8 RADIUS through PPTP VPN
-
Weird problem here.
I've been using Windows RADIUS (Network Policy Access Server) with PFsense's PPTP VPN happily for the past 3 or 4 years.
Recently, trying to get OpenVPN to authenticate off of it or just using the diagnostic/authentication page, it fails and NPA reports Event ID 13, Invalid Client RADIUS IP.
I've tried both creating a new RADIUS client and providing the same password as the PPTP server to no avail.
I've also made sure pfsense's host and domain matched with windows DNS forward and reverse pointers.
Yet it all works fine with the PPTP server's RADIUS client but not with the other RADIUS clients in pfsense.

It should work just the same, really.
The easiest way to diagnose it would be to run some packet captures as you attempt some authentication tests from the GUI and PPTP, to look for differences in the queries.
