PfSense as a syslog server
-
Is it possible to have syslog-ng on pfSense act as a remote syslog server? I hope to use this as a destination for my draytek router. I can only find information on logging from a pfSense instance TO a syslog server, however I want to have my draytek router log TO the pfSense instance. I've not found out whether this is possible or not but after several hours searching the web and various forums, as well as testing the configuration myself, to no avail. Any help appreciated :)

Yes!

In 2.1 there is a syslog-ng package you can install which I imagine you can do that with (never tried it though). You can also have pfSense use it for longer log storage.
I don't think you can use the built-in clog based log storage to do it.Steve

syslog-ng package works ok as log server.
But there is a possible WebGUI bug when listing its log file. Please see http://forum.pfsense.org/index.php/topic,70846.0.html

Ah, that's disappointing.
I never got around to trying the syslog-ng package as all the boxes I could try it on are NanoBSD. I'll have to try again to get a hybrid Nano+HD setup functioning and give it a go.Steve
