Set start page for all clients browser
-
Hello everyone!
I'm fairly new on using pfsense, but it's awesome!
I have one question:
I have maybe 50-80 computers connected to my pfsense firewalls, and I was wondering… can I force all computers to go automatic to for example google.com when they start their browsers? And after this force to page, they can freely visit any website they want to?Best regards.

You can use the captive portal to display a locally hosted page one time per session. I guess you could direct clients to an external page instead, I've not tried that.

I tried capitive portal. Seems like an awesome tool. I tried it and a login window popped up for everyone. Odd surprise.
So, I tried both no auth and user manager… but can I somehow do so for example:
user starts browser, instead of login window the user will automatic get a session and get redirected to the forced site? -
Like I say I would have thought you could but I've never tried it. You would have to code you own page to do it, there are a number of threads on the forum relating to that.

Any reason you want to do this with pfsense as opposed to the various OS tools (i.e. Windows group policy, if you have it)?

A network of laptops, tablets and phones like a coffee shop. Or maybe a mixed OS environment. Many reasons. ;)

I understand why someone would want to use Captive Portal; was just asking the original poster for his/her specific reason in case there were other options.

Sorry I slightly misread your question there. I thought you were asking in general.
