Pfsense cannot see my other pc.
-
Hi,
I have installed pfsense on a usb flash drive and it loads fine, but unfortunately when I try to access it from another pc it doesn't work. The two pcs are connected with direct cable and when I run the os that I have on the hard drive - Debian. The machines can see each other, but when I boot from the flash drive it doesn't work. My question is, is there some kind of configuration that I have to set in order the machines to be able to communicate.
Thanks in advance.

What makes me wonder is that another OS is working. Usually you need a crossovercable if you connect 2 machines directly to each ther without a hub or a switch in between. Also make sure both machines are in the same subnet and you are connected to the LAN interface of the pfSense and not the WAN. Also check if your interfaces are assigned the right way.

Hi hoba and thanks for the reply. Actually, I am using crossover cable. In pfsense I am setting up the lan with ip address 192.168.1.1 and the mask is 255.255.255.0. The other machine is with ip address 192.168.1.2 and the same mask. Those settings are working fine when I boot the normal os which is on the hard, but not when I boot pfsense. The version that I am using is pfSense-1.0.1-Embedded. I would be very grateful if someone give me a hint what could be the reason for this issue.
Regards,
Nick

Don't think it's related but try a 1.2beta1 please from the official mirrors.
