In case anyone is interested, I just got an OpenGear SD4001 Serial-over-IP adapter and it works great with my Soekris net6501.  I was even able to do a BIOS update through it with an XMODEM transfer using TeraTerm.

      I can break anything.

Interesting device. Useful for out of band access.
Does it need a separate power supply or can it be powered by the serial port? It looks like it would be ideal for PoE but I don't see that mentioned.

It comes with a small power adapter.

I originally got it for my ShoreTel system and network switches.  Most of my network equipment needs to have the initial config via Serial and I don't have a computer in that server room.  It was either this or drag myself in there with a laptop & USB-to-Serial adapter.

          I can break anything.

We are using the "Moxa NPort 5210", they work good… managing remote HW located at 10Km from our Office, you can't do that with a Null Modem cable  ;)
