could i use this for pfsense -

    http://linitx.com/product/mikrotik-routerboard-450g-inc-routeros-level-5/12417

the reason im leaning torwards this and not for the LinITX ALIX 2D3 LX800 as its got 5 gig ports but downside is it hasnt got a mini pci card so i can have wireless access on it

It has AR7161 680MHz Atheros CPU, which is a MIPS instruction set - http://www.qca.qualcomm.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/AR7161.pdf
pfSense only runs on the i386 and amd64 instruction set CPUs.

As the Greek philosopher Isosceles used to say, "There are 3 sides to every triangle."

… as pretty clear from the description:

powered by the new Atheros 600MHz 74K MIPS network processor
