I just got my pfsense router running and it is connected to my att 2wire modem/router .
what i am planning is to switch the 2wire to bridged mode so I can manage everything with the pfsense router.

But here's the catch. I'm not sure how I authenticate my pppoe account with att after I switch off pppoe on the 2wire.

when I tried the first time I switched the 2wire router to bridged and typed my pppoe username and password into the pfsense router.
after saving the configuration of both and restarting I had no internet connection. The modem dsl connection light is on but the internet light is dark. Is all the pppoe settings done with the pfsense router or am I missing something else?

Sorry I'm not sure if i know what I'm talking about. But I hope someone can help

I don't run ATT DSL at home, but I run one another ISP. Once in bridge mode, pfSense should handle the authentication. You might need a service name or not.
Did you do something like: http://www.dslreports.com/faq/15835
The internet light will not work in bridge mode it looks like. It does look like these particular modems are a bit harder than most to work with anything else. That just seems to be the norm with ATT internet.

Ok, i followed those instructions and I'm going to give it  another try I'll reply with the results.
P.S. what would the service name be if I needed one

Looks like you don't need one with ATT.

wow att is really a pain for authentication.

I switched the router into bridged mode and then switched the connection type on the pfsense router to pppoe and I still got nothing.
I think I'm going to get a different modem because switching isp's isn't an option right now.  :-\

Do you have a good DSL modem you would recommend?

I use a Draytek Vigor 120 in bridge mode, works great. I got it mainly due to its popularity on these forums.

Check the PPP log to see how authentication is going; Status/System Logs then select the PPP tab.

I use a Cisco 857 in bridge mode.
