Make sure to use the serial memstick and choose the embedded kernel during the install.

Sigh. If you're going to write an image to the SD card, use a nano image. If you are going to install to the m-Sata, write the memstick to a USB key and install from the USB to the m-Sata.

Make sure to use the serial memstick

TRIED BOTH pfSense-memstick-2.1-RELEASE-amd64.img/pfSense-memstick-2.1-RELEASE-i386.img/pfSense-memstick-serial-2.1-RELEASE-amd64.img BUT STILL BEHAVES THE SAME

and choose the embedded kernel during the install.
SIR I DONT KNOW AT WHICH POINT WILL I CHOOSE THIS…NOTE THAT I HAVENT SEEN ANY PFSENSE INITIALIZATION YET. EITHER PHYSDISKWRITE OR GZIP DOEST PASS THROUGH THIS OPTION

Maybe you need to fix your Caps Lock first? Plus you have already been told that you are doing it completely wrong, so why are you creating duplicate threads?!

                      Hallo,

i have the same problems with my apu, but instead of pfsense i use ipcop.

                      things done:
                      = install to USB-Stick => work
= install the same to harddisk => work
= install the same to SD => installation worked => booting failed

                      enter handle_19:
                        NULL
                      Booting from Hard Disk…
                      Booting from 0000:7c00

                      PROBLEM SOLVED:
                      –----------------------
My problem was a bad formated SD-Card/USB stick.

I used "HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool" for formating and Win32DiskImage to write the image to USB and then i had no probles with install on SD.

Did you go through the procedure (documented here https://forum.pfsense.org/index.php?topic=59555.msg406438#msg406438) to set the boot delay?

NanoBSD, 2g, amd64, 2.1.1 on a class 4 SD card worked fine for me on the APU I have. Nothing special aside from kern.cam.boot_delay.

(If you thought CF was slow, wait til you use an SD below a class 10… :-) )

Use a smaller image. Try the 2GB NanoBSD on the 4GB card. The card is probably too small to contain the full image. See many other topics for more info on how card makers do that and why.

It will do that until/unless you do the kern.cam.boot_delay change as mentioned in many similar threads for the APU.

It is not kern.cam.boot.delay, it is kern.cam.boot_delay

Back to the main problem… F12 not working or USB image incorrect.

                                            things done:
=install the memstick image to USB using physdiskwrite successful
                                            =install the same on SD
=install SD and USB stick one at a time but failed
=at one point on the startup press F12 and select the proper drive but still failing to boot

Pls help as we know we have an issue on the supplied mSATA ssd

F12 is not functioning, it is not booting from the USB stick

                                            ...
                                            Booting from Hard Disk...
                                            Booting from 0000:7c00

                                            I tried:

                                            • physdiskwrite
