PfSense update 2.1.1 - SHA256 error
-
Hi,
I just tried to auto update pfSense to version 2.1.1 but I got a SHA256 error.
Is this a generic problem?

My update went fine. It's most likely a bad download, have you tried again?
-
Thank you for letting me know that it is not a generic problem. Yes I tried 5 times with same difference in SHA256 values between download and defined.

You didn't mention which version you are trying to upgrade? 32 or 64 bit? Normal or nanobsd? I just upgraded my VM from 2.1 beta to 2.1.1 (64 bit normal image) without issues too.
-
Sorry, nanobsd 64 bit from version 2.1 to version 2.1.1

Same here, same version.
-
Updater settings:
Default Auto update url - empty
Firmware Auto Update URL - checked and http://updates.pfsense.org/_updaters/amd64
-
… and of coarse no check mark for skipping check sum
-
And the error message - I got the below every time so connection is sample
Auto upgrade aborted.
Downloaded SHA256: 93ae661fd1dbb44c8576a18abd1a30c11598d45038123d55f72082bf22703451
Needed SHA256: 70b0ad7f1b8621fa99b8f3c6f127645b744b1fe5087ac3ce08c56491546ddcd7

So I downloaded the image manual and run a SHA256 on it. It looks like the defined SHA256 is wrong on the 2g version

Looking at http://updates.pfsense.org/_updaters/amd64/ you can see that the nanobsd images haven't updated yet. The files are from September.
-
I see but pfSense dash boards tells me there is an update and just clicked and ask for auto update.
So maybe there should be an extra check for platform in the System Information?
Thank you for identifying the root cause!
