IPv6 monitor IP
-
I have a PPPoE link to my ISP. The gateway "WAN_DHCP6" shows as fe80::203:97ff:fe1a:0 which I think is truncated from fe80::203:97ff:fe1a:0%pppoe0 which is what shows as my IPv6 default gateway. The gateway monitoring is showing it as down but the link works so I assume that the gateway is not responding to ICMP.
Fine, so I need to monitor another IP address to show the gateway as up. I tried putting in a Google public DNS server's IPv6 address into "Monitor IP" but got an error:
The following input errors were detected: The monitor address '2001:4860:4860::8888' is a different Address Family then gateway 'dynamic'.
How can I get the system to monitor the IPv6 link?
Cheers

Are you on a current snapshot? I thought that was a bug that was fixed not too long ago.

I think the bug you refer to was actually fixed on my home PF by databeestje but that was for a complete lack of IPv6 default gateway. Now I have the problem specified above!
To be honest I wasn't that bothered and waited for a few snapshots to see if the problem was more widespread. I am a day or two behind at the moment:
Current version: 2.1-DEVELOPMENT Built On: Sun May 27 05:31:49 EDT 2012 New version: Tue May 29 18:05:11 EDT 2012
… but I have to wait until the wife isn't wanting to use it and I have enough time to fix any fall out from an update P)

I'll try and verify that issue later. Strange though, thought I fixed it.
Also, since the interface is up it shouldn't read dynamic, but return the gateway address, which is IPv6, and succeed.
I think I need to verify this check once more on the gateway edit page.
I see quite a few cases where upstream routers are not responding to ping. Which is really broken. I can't see how that is supposed to happen.
You know it's your customer and not some traffic from the internet, why block?

my isp blocked ping for a loooong time they said it was for my protection might be nice if there was an alternative to ping had a dual wan router that used http traffic flow and i believe packet flow as a mean to verify connection where pin was blocked unfortunately not all network admins are good
