So after the installation of the new update, I have been having an issue with Pfsense where the internet will completely freeze. However the GUI will still work and once I reboot the system, it works fine. What I am thinking is that this hard drive has a bad sector/s. I am leaning towards that because about a month or so ago, I had a corrupt operating system which makes me lean towards that. Does that hold water or is there a bug that I am unaware of?

Anyway, the computer is an old eMachine.
      CPU: AMD64 2.4GHz on a 939 socket
      RAM: 2GB DDR2 dual channel with 4 512
Hard Drive: WD Razor 80GB HDD

If it was a bad drive then I would expect to see some errors in the system log. Check the SMART status.

What is in the log? I would expect to see some errors or warnings if the WAN connection went down for some other reason.

What NICs are you using? There were some driver changes between 2.1 and 2.1.1.

Also you should go to 2.1.2 now.
