Dell R220 or HP DL320e - Ethernet compatibility

Hello,
I'm looking on a short-depth server which is actually the two :
- HP DL320e
- Dell R220
However i saw that the HP Raid controler isn't recognized and must be disabled, which is sadly a bad thing for HDD failover, plus i need 2 more ports (4 total), which can be ok with an additionnal network card.
So i went on Dell and tried the R220, however, the additionnal network card seems not to be on the hardware list support of Pfsense, but the Raid controler H310 seems ok with the latest Pfsense (not sure though).
Dell additionnal cards:
- Broadcom 5719, 5720
- Intel i350, i350v2
Can someone say me if theses additionnal cards are supported or not for Dell R220 ?
And if someone want to suggest me a specific brand / model which is short-depth, don't hesistate !Thanks you !

That's a brand new system from Dell. I doubt anyone has tried it.
i350 NICs will work. I don't know about the Broadcom NICs, I only use Intel, and I've never heard of i350 V2.

Yeah… No one at Dell is going to help you. Their official position is going to be that it only works with whatever OS options that they offer on the config page. That means Windows and a few Linux variants.

Yeah, but they may be able to ship the server and if that does not work / not fit our requirements we can ship back to them ?
Anyway i'll ask some more informations to know some things.*And what about the H200A raid controller in R210 II ?
Apparently seems to be supported, the integrated BCM5716 NIC as well, would be a safer pick.

Well, yeah, if you're willing to buy it you can test all you'd like. Watch out though, some Dell gear comes with a restocking fee if you return it. Ask your account rep before you place the order.

I'm not sure there's a difference. The "V2" badge seems to be applied to the complete cards (eg. i350-T4V2), not the controller itself, so it might just be a PCB revision.

I'm running pfSense on two DELL R210 II in a CARP setup. Additional NICs are Intel Gigabit ET Quad Port Server Adapter (Chip 82576) from dell.
The onboard NIC is used just for sync.At the beginning with pfSense 2.1 the backup box crashed sporadically. After board replacement, BIOS updates and pfSense upgrades it worked. Don't know, what the real issue was.

Instead of the Dell, what about adding a SmartArray controller to the DL320e instead of the onboard junky one?
I'd rather have quality NICS and an add-on RAID card than a solid RAID card and wonky NICs for pfSense.
A P430 array or some such should work with FreeBSD-10.1. Shouldn't it?
