Hmm, ok, well…I'm coordinating with developers, a software subscription billing application that will integrate with our broadcasting and streaming servers. We have one month to write and test three months worth of code.
So, it's kinda funny the little psychic in you should say that, because I have no choice in the matter to "try it for myself" and between all the high pressure meetings and all those awesome late nights, I get the occasional warm compliment, like..."Anyone ever tell you...you look dead?"
But, today, I have a much better appreciation for coders and they're right up there with your Cook and Landlord...the people you definitely don't want to piss off.

With IPv4 only, and routing only, yeah they should be able to hit that claimed 1+ million pps stated number reliably. There are limitations to their hardware routing capabilities, like no IPv6 acceleration, no NAT, etc.

Also are we talking about the Edge router pro or lite? I had read it, and responded, as the ERL but re-reading it now I see the question was for the Pro.

What I noted is re: the ERL, though IIRC the others have the same limitations, haven't looked as closely into those.

We're using the edgerouter lite for access to our test page for streaming. 14 channels and no problems at all thus far.
We've also used the edgerouter lite, as a temp replacement for our pfsense router box. There was a marked difference in the overall internet experience, in that…pages loaded faster and smoother, online videos preloaded quicker, and improved response times. What seemed like a tired, old, dying internet, suddenly burst to life with youth in it's step! we went from loading CNN in 3.5 seconds to loading in just about 1.5 seconds...
But, this is MIPS 64. Not x86 32bit. So, hardware wise, bus system, processor, memory type, Network cards, makes all the difference. With what the internet is today, you should not be using x86 32bit even in your home, as a power user.
And if the broadcast industry can go from standard definition to High definition, to super and ultra high definition in under a decade, then where are the 96bit or 128bit systems for today?
Maybe it's just me, but I feel we're risking a high technology dark age where new electronics and discoveries, unable to be fully controlled, could be suppressed and kept at bay, or used to the advantage of one group over another. Not the scope of this forum, yes..I understand.

hmm … what hardware are you running on? i've never experienced slowness on a pfsensebox unless there are issues.
are you running proxy/content filtering or snort by any chance ? (these services can be problematic when one is not careful)

Hmm, not sure I can agree with that. In fact in most applications using X86-64 makes no measurable difference.
