      We have an Intel 82598EB CX4 10gbe card. This card loads fine in FREENAS 8 (also freebsd based) and Windows 2008. In PFSENSE 2.0.1-RELEASE (amd64)
      built on Mon Dec 12 18:16:13 EST 2011  the card gets a link light and so does the switch. Unfortunately the card will not come up and I always get  "no carrier"

      Output from pciconf -lv
      ix0@pci0:5:0:0: class=0x020000 card=0xaf8015d9 chip=0x10dd8086 rev=0x01 hdr=0x00
          class      = network
          subclass  = ethernet
      ix1@pci0:5:0:1: class=0x020000 card=0xaf8015d9 chip=0x10dd8086 rev=0x01 hdr=0x00
          class      = network
          subclass  = ethernet

      Output from ifconfig
      ix0: flags=8802 <broadcast,simplex,multicast>metric 0 mtu 1500
      options=5bb <rxcsum,txcsum,vlan_mtu,vlan_hwtagging,jumbo_mtu,vlan_hwcsum,tso4,lro>ether 00:25:90:65:e0:34
      media: Ethernet autoselect
      status: no carrier

      Have tried adjusting kern.ipc.nmbclusters as recommended in other threads but that has no effect.

      Anyone have any ideas?</rxcsum,txcsum,vlan_mtu,vlan_hwtagging,jumbo_mtu,vlan_hwcsum,tso4,lro></broadcast,simplex,multicast>

        pfSense 2.0.1-RELEASE is based on FreeBSD 8.1. I suggest you try a snapshot build of pfSense 2.1 which is based on FreeBSD 8.3 and therefore has more up to date drivers than pfSense 2.0.1

          Update: There was another NIC in the machine which had failed and was preventing the 10GBE card from being recognized. All is normal now.

            Hello fannet,

            I've had the same issue with the same card ( http://forum.pfsense.org/index.php/topic,31590.0.html ) but never managed to get it to work but it was 2 years ago.

            What did you do to solve the issue ?

            Best,

              It was detected during install after the conflicting NIC was removed.
