      Hiya,

I'm a Linux native. Having never touched BSD, we've been using pfSense for several weeks successfully now (hooray!)

I'd like to become root to examine various files on the system. However, su requires my user to be in the wheel group (which is cleared upon restart). As far as I can find, there isn't a *NIX-like sudo or Solaris-like pfexec command on pfSense.

So, the question stands: How do I escalate to root on the server I operate from an unprivileged shell?

      Thanks for your time,

I believe that root is the default. What is the result when you execute the "whoami" command?

@jjohnson: You can just use the admin password to login as root via SSH or use the console (command #8).

There is a sudo package you can add if you have added more users and need to get root privileges from those accounts.

@MindfulCoyote - admin and root are there by default, however…
@JeGr - The point of this exercise is to not memorize and distribute the admin password :]
@stephenw10 - Doh! Completely missed this in the list of packages. Thank you!
