One Physical Machine: pfSense on VM1, CentOS/Debian on VM2
-
Since last few days I am exploring pfSense and the forums. It seems to me that there is very little help available on LDAP/NTLM authentication issues esp with Squid + SquidGuard + lightSquid.
So I am exploring a new route. Since this is not a production environment, I have a bit of freedom.
The idea is to install pfSense (firewall only, no other packages) in a VM. In another VM on the same machine I can install Debian/CentOS and setup Squid, SquidGuard, etc. This could give a lot more freedom when it comes to playing with Active Directory.
While I would try to post more on my attempt in coming days, I would like to get some inputs on this setup, specifically on the choice of hyper-visor. The underlying hardware is Core i3, 8 GB RAM, 2x500GB HDD, 2x Intel PCIe NIC + 1 On-board NIC (Intel).

Personally I would choose ESX. TO me it seems more stable and compatible than the rest.
