Problems accessing the interface/ssh
-
Hi guys,
I have installed pfsense in vmware, and i was not able to connect to the virtual machine from my pc, so i installed as live cd on a remote server. I am experiencing the same issue as i was having it on the virtual machine though.
From pfsense, i can ping the internet, i can login to the console and enable ssh, however when i try to access either the admin interface, or ping the pfsense install from outside, or access ssh, i get timed out.
I have been running tcpdump from the shell, and i see that the box receives the icmp requests, but it doesn't respond.
I have been searching through the forum for a while now but i can't find a quick solution. Can someone point me to the right direction please?
Thanks in advance
LE: i checked the tcp logs, and it shows that all incoming traffic is blocked. trying to find a way to let myself in.
LEE: after some more reading found out that webgui wan access is disabled by default. however i can't connect to the webgui via lan, to be able to allow myself in. any way to do it from cli?
LEEE: pfctl -d from the console did it. can access the web interface now, and will add rulesets for wan access.

and you have added rule on wan side to allow ssh/http(s)?

remove the lan interface and reboot pfsense.
When it has only one interface, the anti-lock rule is applied to wan.

There are many ways to get in, even adding a rule on the CLI…
