Christian at the PC Engines forum suggest an URL about someone who writer ALix and APU1C LEDs driver for Linux :
      http://daduke.org/linux/apu/

Could we have this integrate in pfSense or the 2 existing packages must be upgraded to support the APU1C ?

The LED work is already done, and this is what you get when you buy an APU system from the pfSense store (or Netgate).

          Nope…

I'm using a APU from netgate with preloaded pfsense (netgate firmware) and LEDs aren't working... Which /dev/file* may I look for?

What is your firmware update URL set to?

The /dev/led should not be there?

I don't know, I don't have an APU. That looks like the correct firmware URL though.  :-\

Somebody with an APU bought from netgate and frontal LEDs working?

I just went back and built an APU (my first 4GB unit, heh), booted, logged into the shell (8 on the console), and

                      [2.1.3-RELEASE][root@pfSense.localdomain]/root(1): echo 101 > /dev/gpioapu

as expected, the two outside LEDs light up.

I have an APU1C (not via netgate) and am running pfsense 2.1.3 (full install), and I do not have a /dev/gpioapu.  What are my options for LEDing?

We'll be releasing a Platform Specific Release for the APU, though not for "full install".

                            Thanks Gonzopancho!!

I've found another implementation for FreeBSD that uses /dev/led. This implementation for APU/Pfsense have some limitations comparing with "/dev/led" one.

Did you know if is possible to use Larry's implementation in PfSense?

                            http://lists.freebsd.org/pipermail/freebsd-bugs/2014-May/056217.html

                            Cheers!

Anybody have any luck getting blinkled to work on a non-Netgate APU? I have an APU1D running 2.1.5 and have no /dev/led* or /dev/gpioapu. Am I correct in assuming that a proprietary Netgate-specific distribution of pfSense must be used to achieve this functionality?

                              Thanks.

Did you try using Larry Baird's driver linked to above? I just downloaded it and it builds into a loadable kernel module OK. I don't have an APU to test it with though.

Larry's driver is ours.  He seems to have decided to remove Ermal's name.

                                  Fun times

Forgive me for going slightly off topic, but I can't seem to find an image for FREEBSD-8.3 anywhere, has it been EOL'd? What is the best way to get a VM going to build stuff like this for pfSense 2.1.x? Thanks!

                                        From FreeBSD directly:

If you're running VMware then I have used these:
