Lanner FW-7525 6 NICs - Quite Nice!
-
This is pretty much exactly what I was looking for. Just got a quote and slightly more expensive than what I hoped, but certainly not a bad value.
Has there been any more information along the lines of what ganzopancho had been posting in this thread? It sounds like they ESF/pfsense were looking into some kind of appliance between the APU1C and their rackmount system. I'd like to support them if possible but at some point I need to bite the bullet and do something.
You may want to follow this thread as well for more information on netgate's plans in this space. Like you, I'd much prefer to pay extra for a netgate supported device.
They seem to have set up a placeholder for the 7551 on their storefront as well as their firmware site , but that may not really mean very much.

Does the QuickAssist Crypto acceleration work on pfSense? Have you run any crypto speed tests?

I don't claim to know any details but my general impression is that AES-NI and related extensions are slated for the 2.2 release.

This isn't a placeholder. However, it does require a support contract and build & test costs. More than I'm looking to spend though, and only 4 LAN ports.
At first I had some issues getting console going but that's mainly because I don't do it enough to remember how. I had to buy a belkin usb to serial cable which worked quite well using OS X iTerm2 and screen.
Can anyone shed some more light on this? I'm not familiar with using a serial console to do this kind of thing, I don't have any computers with a serial port right now so I was planning on buying a USB to serial cable. But this system doesn't have serial either, and the LAN port on the far left is a console port - seems to be for device administration only. Can pfSense be installed through that port? Or straight USB to USB?

The port on the left is a serial port, just in the form of a RJ-45 jack. The system will ship with a RJ-45 to DB9 cable. You'd hook that to the USB-to-RS232 adapter.

Anyone knows where to buy it in EU?

Anyone knows where to buy it in EU?
ThanksJust received from Lanner the EU distributor: http://www.apligo.com/
They are based in Germany, already got in touch with them and awaiting for a quote.

No. Not yet.

I called Lanner last week and they do not have these in stock. The woman said this model was some sort of engineering prototype, and didn't know when they would have them again. She the proceeded to try to sell me the FW-7541 instead.
Anyone know where to get one of these in the US? Or any other fanless C2358-based box?
-
LOLOLOL!
If we wanted to carry the 7525, we would.
I have a fanless dual-core, C2358-based 6 Ethernet box on my desk.
That should be enough hints for one response.

Looking forward to see it in my desk as well ;D . Any planned date for availability? Roughly just to set up my clock and keep calm.

really don't want to Osborne ourselves here.

Is the 7525 using the casing as heatsink like Lanner's other fanless design? How effective is it?
Any photo of the inside? How cram is it and the workmanship?

We got most of the units on stock and also got technicians here with us which are specially trained for Lanner Appliances.
Anyway, I would be glad to help you guys in any need of hardware questions regarding Lanner Appliances :) -

Is the FW-7525 casing used as a heatsink? since it is fanless. Any photo of the interior?
Thanks.

Yes it is kinda similar as to the FW-7541. Many people "complain" that the unit gets to hot, but this is perfectly normal since, like you already stated, the case is used as the heatsink.
-
The FW-7541 uses the case as a heatsink. The FW-7525, despite appearances, does not.

Hi,
Hope that I can ask this off topic question. Does anyone know what is the lead time to get the Lanner Unit from the manufacturer? Thanks.

I can't speak to that one in particular, but most of the parts I've ordered from Lanner get to me within a week if they're in stock or 2-3 weeks if they ship from overseas (my parts always seem to go to their Canadian office first, then they ship to me).
