      Sup guys,

      SO I am trying to get a GFC1602A:  http://www.gifar.com.tw/Model.aspx?ModelNo=GFC1602A to work with pfsense 2.0.1, the lcdproc pkg is 0.5.5, I keep getting this error:

      Aug 28 15:18:40 php: lcdproc: Stopping service: no com port selected
      Aug 28 15:18:40 php: lcdproc: The chosen lcdproc driver is not a valid choice

      When I check the services lcdproc shows stopeed, I try to restart it and the same error shows in the system logs, I have tried other drivers that are compatible with ST7060U, and I get the same error.

      Any help will be great

      my current lcdproc server tab settings are:

      enable LCDproc: check
      Com Port: Serial Com port 2 (/dev/cua1)
      display size: 2 rows 16 colums
      driver: hd44780
      refresh frequency: (5 seconds, 1 second)

        Hi,
        have you tried an alternative port for COM2 (dev/cuau1)? Also, have you tried to lower the port speed?

        Both options are available on the lcdproc-dev package.

        Ciao,
        Michele

          Thanks Michele,

          I installed the beta LCDproc pkg, and my service started!  ;),  these are the settings I have now,

          which is great but I still see no activity on the lcd itself

          when the service started it created this .conf file :

          [server]
          DriverPath=/usr/local/lib/lcdproc/
          Driver=CFontz
          Bind=127.0.0.1
          Port=13666
          ReportLevel=3
          ReportToSyslog=yes
          User=nobody
          Foreground=no
          ServerScreen=no
          GoodBye="Thanks for using"
          GoodBye="    pfSense     "
          WaitTime=2
          ToggleRotateKey=Enter
          PrevScreenKey=Left
          NextScreenKey=Right
          ScrollUpKey=Up
          ScrollDownKey=Down
          [menu]
          MenuKey=Escape
          EnterKey=Enter
          UpKey=Up
          DownKey=Down
          [CFontz]
          Device=/dev/cuau1
          Size=16x2
          Contrast=350
          Brightness=1000
          OffBrightness=50
          NewFirmware=no
          Reboot=no
          "

          here is what my logs say about the LCD:

          I've tried changing port speeds, content, but no luck…any clues ?

          Thanks
