How to add cdcontrol and usb_modswitch to pfsense?
-
I don't see these available as packages using pkg_add. How can I add these features to pfSense 2.0x?
Thanks

usb_modeswitch you can add from FreeBSD stable, which seems to work.
pkg_add -r ftp://ftp-archive.freebsd.org/mirror/FreeBSD/ports/i386/packages-8-stable/Latest/usb_modeswitch.tbz
cdcontrol has to be copied from a FreeBSD 8.1 install/iso.

Thanks Stephen. So, I installed usb_modswitch the way you mentioned and cdcontrol is already included in developmental version 2.1.
How can I use cdcontrol and usb_modswitch. cdcontrol is an executable binary but usb_modswitch is not.
Thanks

usb_modeswitch is an executable. You may have to issue a rehash command if you've just installed it so FreeBSD knows where it is. However it isn't the complete solution that it is under Linux. The FreeBSD port is basically a utility for sending the USB codes to your modem. It doesn't load up drivers or get called automatically when the modem is inserted.
