How do I block phone numbers ?
-
Okay so I will be building a super router and I also want it to be able to filter out specific phone numbers. I don't use VoIP, just the old PSTN line. However my motherboard has just a single PCIe x4 slot. Is this possible at all and if it is, which card do you recommend ?
BTW, do you think PCIe x4 to PCI adapter will work fine?

This is probably the most bizarre question I've ever seen here. Does such an A/D card even exist and have driver support in FreeBSD 8.3? I very much doubt that the ANI data from the call will be exposed in any way that pfSense could see or work with.

This doesn't make any sense at all. What are you trying to do?

I'm trying to connect the phone to my pfsense router and then connect it to the phone line so I can filter/record calls.

If you want open source for this, you probably want something like www.asterisk.org or something based on it. You will need an analog card (or some sort of SIP adapter) with at least one FXO and one FXS port.

you could use a distro like http://pbxinaflash.net/ or http://www.freepbx.org/freepbx-distro and create blacklists to block unwanted calls. Both are excellent choices but I prefer piaf a little bit more. if you run into issues the piaf forum is an excellent resource.
As for cards I prefer Rhino http://rhinoequipment.com/analog.aspx but they may be overkill/priced for a home environment.
For home use something like the obi 110 should be a good solution http://www.obihai.com/product-primer
