      Hi!

      After 2nd power failure and ssd disk corruption and pfSense reinstallation I decided to buy small UPS. Now I have it and thigs might be better.

      I installed NUT packade and pfSense is seeing my UPS. However what I do not know is when & how pfSense is deciding to halt or shutdown itself? Where and how it should configure? It seems that it sees UPS status but does it ever shutdown pfsense computer?

      This is essential for me because power loss seems to corrupt SSD HDD.

          LOL I found it almost after I wrote this thread - sorry  :-\

          Anyway where I can manage that when powering down apcupsd is shutting down pfsense rather than halt?

          Now my problem is when UPS get external power pfsense not starts (even if bios setting is power up when pc gets power).

            @peehoo:

            That's a function of the hardware, nothing to do with software. If the BIOS is set to power on the system when it regains power, and it's not, your BIOS/hardware is broken. That has 0 dependency on the software running (and would behave the same if you pulled every storage medium off the box).

            Look for a BIOS update, good chance that's something the manufacturer would fix.

              Hmm… I humble disagree because main problem is that pfsense is going HALT when external power went down instead of completely shutdown. I have setting in bios that when power is coming up -> pc is rebooting but this halt command from NUT (or apcupsd) is messing things...

                If you go to Diagnostics>Halt System, does that power it off?

                Whether or not the system powers back on after power loss has nothing to do with whether or not it powered off beforehand. If it's set to always power on after AC power is restored, it'll power on regardless of whether it shut itself off.
