    Hi All,
I'm a pfsense noob installing for the first time.  setup is below:

    Motherboard - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813132097&cm_re=AM1--13-132-097--Product

    Processor - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819113364&cm_re=AM1--19-113-364--Product

NIC - Intel Pro/1000 Pt Quad Port Lp Svr Adptr EXPI9404PTLBLK

I am getting the following error intermittently on startup as well as once pfsense is loaded.

Fatal trap 9: general protection fault while in kernel mode cupid =0; apic id = 00
    instruction pointer =0x20:0xffffffff80201ada
    stack pointer = 0x28 :0xffffffff8167789c0
    frame pointer = 0x28 :0xffffffff81678a30
    code segment = base 0x0, limit 0xfffff, toe 0x1b
                        = DPL 0, press 1, long 1, def32 0, gran 1
processor eflags = interrupt enabled, resume, IOPL = 0
    current process =0 (swapper)

Well it appears to some sort of ACPI error. Are you running the latest bios? There looks to be one dated 28/9/14 which claims to 'improve system stability'.
Try disabling everything you don't need, on-board audio etc. Try to disable USB3 as that isn't supported in 2.1.5. Try disbling ACPI completely if you can. You will loose some functionality but if it then run stably you'll have something to work from.

      Steve

I had updated the the latest BIOS prior to the install.  I've looked to see if I can disable ACPI in BIOS and haven't found an option yet.  I think I might just RMA the MB back and get another to see if that will work better.
