Squid is it running?

I installed squid, squid gaurd, and HAVP. I have only configured squid, I used this guide http://www.smallnetbuilder.com/security/security-howto/31451-build-your-own-utm-with-pfsense-part-2?start=1 for the settings. I am not sure if squid is running or not there were a couple of entries in the log that ended with premission denied, but now I don't know if it running or not. Any one know how to tell, or know of a better way to set it up?

diagnostics -> service will show you if squid is running or not.
Do not try to stop or start squid from services page, there is a bug on it that will always stop it.
To start squid, just save config on it's config page.
