      Hi !

      I wonder, if one endpoint is having a different IPsec-related configuration in the pfsense system, and the other endpoint is connecting to the VPN with different IPsec-related configurations on their own pfsense system…is the connection going to be problematic?

      This is a key issue I've been contemplating, because after restarting our ipsec service (and they have to restart their own at their end, to synchronise) there are various errors coming up .

      If you could possibly give any hint..

        Mostly, in my experience, IPsec connections need to match exactly on both endpoints.

        Problems arise when connecting pfSense to hardware like Cisco and Sonicwall (for which there are many good tutorials online). I have done both successfully, but it is always a challenge making pfSense terminology match-up to vendor terminology.
