PPPoE can't be set from config wizard?
-
I did a quick search, but couldn't find this mentioned.
I can't seem to set the PPPoE info using the wizard. Is that intentional, or have I tripped over a bug?
I did verify the goodness of my image using the md5 hash, imgburn verified that it made a good copy onto the cd, and I chose the quick install.
But the edit boxes are r/o, and with the lack of support for the video on the D2500CCE card, I can't use ee to edit /etc/ppp/ppp.conf directly. Any ideas? ???

I "solved" it by bringing up my toy webserver, SSH-ing over to the firewall, and editing ppp.conf by hand. But the values still aren't appearing in the browser, and I've not tried to get out onto the net yet.

Which build of pfSense?

Web GUI wizard started from System -> Setup Wizard?

Even if you could edit ppp.conf you probably wouldn't find it helpful since that isn't the name of the PPP configuration file in current releases. And even if you could edit the correct file it wouldn't be a long term solution since pfSense regenerates all the configuration files when it starts.

sigh it's a human-factors problem, not a coding one. The fields are gated by the "type" list at the top, but the non-selected ones are r/o rather than disabled as they should be. So if someone doesn't start with that top field, the page will look broken.
I recommended that they scrap that field and use javascript to disable the irrelevant fields after one of them is selected to type into. E.g., I would (and in fact tried to) start typing my account name into that PPPoE field, so javascript should immediately disable all competing choice unless and until I empty the field(s) I chose. Add some text garnish explaining what's going on, for those who aren't unix/network nerds, and Bjorn Stronginthearm's your uncle.
(Thanks for your response, btw! Just to dot the Ts and cross the Is, v2.0.1, i386, and yes, System -> Setup wiz.
It's a little disgusting, even though helpful, to know that the fBSD under pfSense isn't the same as the fBSD runnning on my toy webserver or my muscle machine)
