Ntopng stops responding/updating after a while
-
I haven't timed it exactly, but between 10 to 30 mins of sitting on the Flow screen ntopng stops responding. If I click the "flow" button again, it says "no data". If I refresh the page I have to log in with admin/admin again and then flow fires back up.
I need to run flow on a display monitor 24/7 and I looked through the settings and didn't see anything about a timeout.
How can I make it so flow stays running?
Thanks!

If you are on a secure network, you can disable needing to log in completely by using the '-l' or '–disable-login' options. I've tested this and it seems to work as advertised.
If you still want to log in, you can turn off the inactivity logout by using the '-q' or '--disable-autologout' options. I haven't tested this one yet.
Either approach will mean editing /usr/local/etc/rc.d/ntopng.sh, and realizing that the changes will be lost when that's re-written (certainly pfSense updates, and every time you 'change' ntopng settings via the webgui). Manual is here: https://svn.ntop.org/svn/ntop/trunk/ntopng/doc/UserGuide.pdf

Sweet, thanks!!
Can I change the permissions on ntopng.sh so that only I can change it, not the "system"?

No, not easily, I think it's created from scratch each time. Best way is to write the code to add these options to the 'ntopng settings' page, and then get them into pfSense so they are officially supported.

Bummer :( The file gets overwritten/undoes the changes I make every time pfSense reboots, any particular way to fix that?

Did anyone ever figure out a solution to this?
