I want to use DNS servers other than the ones assigned by the internet provider, so I added the alternate DNS server in the General Setup.  I also want to utilize the DNS caching on the pfsense server so I enabled the "DNS Query Forwarding" in DNS Resolver.

Problem I'm having is that the loopback IP (127.0.0.1) will only show up on the list if I check "Allow DNS server list to be overridden by DHCP/PPP on WAN" but that also adds the DNS server from the WAN provider ?

Yeah I was hoping to fix that tonight but it's more than I have time to finish today. Ticket open. https://redmine.pfsense.org/issues/4022
