SSH keys not created on my new install
-
Is it possible that this commit https://github.com/pfsense/pfsense/commit/2951a06ad89fc207a709af362ddc42069fdee172#diff-0 somehow broke initial SSH key generation on new installs? I setup a new installation today, loaded my previous my 2.2 beta config and cannot login via SSH. Keygeneration never seems to finish on my full install, AMD64.
-
I did a new installation, enabled sshd using console menu and it worked as expected. Could you share a sanitized version of your config.xml?
-
Thanks for looking into this, you have got a PM with the config.
-
Renato, have you been able to find something in the config I sent to you?
I just tried to update my HA KVM (AMD64) from 2.1.5 to the latest 2.2 and it shows the same problem.
Why would it regenerate my SSH keys during an upgrade anyways? -
It's not recreating after Renato's fix, it's only generating ones that are missing post-upgrade. There are more types of keys in a 10.x base than an 8.x one.
I haven't seen any issues on clean install nor upgrade since the originally linked commit.

You're right, I'm sorry for the false alarm. It just took a little loger I guess.
Everything went fine with the upgrade, it seems the Linux KVM (E1000 interfaces) has much better throughput now. Great, many thanks for your support! -
i did a upgrade and it keeps saying generating keys but it just doesnt, on my old system there were no keys but had ssh enabled but after upgrade it detects this and tries to create but never is able to do so on nanobsd alix

upgraded to 2.2 RC and then tried and started working
