    Jetway JNF9HQL-525, Looking for input on board

      Hello everyone,

      I'm looking at getting a low power build for pfSense, i found the Jetway JNF9HQL-525 board, 13w with 4 Ethernet ports. Was wondering if anyone is using or had issues using this board. I really don't think my network will be taxing this board all that much, but i just wanted to make sure.

      The build I'm looking at: http://www.mini-box.com/Morex-557-Jetway-JNF9HQL-525-Intel-Dual-Atom-60w, probably go with 4gb of memory as well.

      The network that it will support: ISP is 60 down and 6 up
      LAN-Wired: 2 x Desktop PC, 1 x Laptop PC, 1 x HTPC, 1 x Network Printer, 1 x unRaid Server, 1 x XBOX 360, 1 x Theater Pre/Pro, 1 x Bluray Player, 1 x Tivo

      LAN-Wireless: 1 x Wireless AP, 2 x Phones, 1 x Tablet

      Packages installed: Snort, pfBlocker, Notes, BandwidthHD, , phpSysInfo, Vnstat2, NMap

      The only thing that might be added in the near future is a Voip phone on the 4th open port. Open to suggestion for voip service for a home residence  ;)

      This board is capable of booting from the on board CF slot, Is there any benefit using a CF over a HD in this network? The cost of a really good CF card is the same as a 2.5 HD.

        It will handle your WAN bandwidth but will you will have limited bandwidth between internal interfaces. You might get at most ~600Mbps with some tuning but less than that if you have Snort running.
        Most people will recommend you don't use Realtek NICs but those are usually 'good enough'. If you need guaranteed 100% uptime or maximum possible throughput then use Intel NICs. Realtek NICs sometime don't respond well to having their speed/duplex forced if you need that for any reason.
        Other than that it looks like a nice board. Thin format, 4x onboard NICs and DC input. Never used one personally.

          I wouldn't buy a D525 these days; that's a pretty old CPU for the end of 2014.

          I can break anything.

            That's true. For the right price though…. Don't know if $234 is it.  ;)
