ADSL 2+ Modem / Gateway Draytek Vigor 120
-
Hello,
anyone installed pfSense using an ADSL connection and this modem:
http://www.draytek.co.uk/products/vigor120.htmlIt should be used as a PPoE gateway… any experience?
Thanks,

Been using it for while. Once I had the correct firmware version it works great. I'm using it in pppoa to pppoe mode, which it does by default.
I think I've written about it here before but there is also quite an extensive thread here:

Thanks Steve, I'll read that (long) post with calm, the important thing is that pfSense can use it, so it fills a gap about ADSL lines that pfSense does not directly supports …
I hate to be forced to use a proprietary firewall at home, and to implement the "office-home" VPN with a cheap hardware... with this modem I could use an appliance to manage my home network using the firewall I know best...
Just a question, do you think that an Alix appliance can handle an ADSL 2+ (20mbps down/1mbps up), wifi and an IPSec VPN without performance problems?
Thanks,

The Alix will be fine doing NAT/firewall for a 20/1 connection but you won't get 20Mbps of VPN without the accelerator card.
Thats not from personal experience though.Steve

I've been using the Draytek Vigor 120v2 for about three months now without any problems. I am running the the shipped Annex B firmware 3.2.6. My Vigor acts as a pure modem in PPPoE pass-through mode. In this setup pfSense works as a PPPoE client.

Thanks a lot to both for your answers!!
I will try soon to implement pfSense also at home with an Alix solution + Vigor 120…
Thanks,
Michele
