Can anyone reccomend a good 24 port 1000Mbps switch?

The TP-Link TL-SG1024 mir mentioned should be fine.
I currently have one of their bigger brothers as core switch "at home" (TL-SG5428 IIRC) and it's doing a rock steady job. And some TL-SG3210 on edges.I just recently fell in love with the Cisco SG300 und SG500 series of switches when using them in my daytime job (higher volume IP-TV). I will start to change over at home because I'm now used to their CLI syntax. But that's none of your concerns with an unmanaged switch.
Personally I'd stay away from Netgear. 5 out of 6 devices were either DOA or died in my hands within an hour. #WasteOfTime

looking t0 replace my 4 port 1000mbps router and 16 port 100mbps switch with my new pfsense rig and 24 port switch. I have a NAS4Free server connected to the 1000Mbps router along with me and my wifes computer so we can move files fast.
10G is getting quite inexpensive.

With 16 ports for $125 (HP) whereas the TP-Link is $100 for 24 ports. Both are noiseless (fan-free) and reliable.
Unmanaged 1G switching isn't even stat-of-the-art anymore which it was years ago so I don't see any additional value from the big brand name here.@gonzopancho:

Do you have any recommendations on where to look. I have a hard time finding a non-layer3 10Gb switch with every feature know to man. Their target demographic is datacenters, so they have a lot of datacenter stuff that I don't need. All I really want at home is a Layer2 10Gb switch or a Layer2 1Gb with 10Gb uplinks.

In my experience the price tag exceeds 1.000$ when you add 10Gb features even for the most "plain" switches.

I've got very good experience with TP-Link managed switches in bussinesss environments with real-time low latency streaming applications. Long distances fiber optics between switches. Good hardware, super great price.

If you are really pushing them they tend to lock-up every month or so and you have to power-cycle them.
Having said that, I use one TL-SG5412F as fiber concentrator in front of an otherwise all Cisco Catalyst IP-TV network in a stadium.
Constantly pushes approx. 350 Mbps from cameras for a year now without the slightest hiccup. They even seem to have gotten IGMP right (which I was told HP does not). -
