How to backup configuration in readable text?
-
Hi all,
Is there a way I can backup my configurations in readable, copyable and pasteable text, so when I upgrade from 2.1.5 to 2.2 I can perform a clean configuration of my packages without having to restore my old config, in order to avoid issues?
Thanks!

Huh? XML is not readable?!

Most of it is… but the fields you fill out in the config (like Squid parameters, proxy bypass, etc.) seem to be encrypted or encoded and are not human readable.

If you know how to handle xml files, you can edit current config and paste back package config.
If you need to do via gui, use any online base64 decoder tool to read encoded fields.

^ These things.
If you have a good editor, it may already have base64 en/decoing built in.
I use UltraEdit. All I have to do is select some text and use Edit > Decode base64.
Notepad++ Has Plugins > MIME Tools > Base64 Decode
There are scripts for Kate, and probably many other editors out there.
