Ram issue on 2.2 amd64 full install

Hi all
the hw i use is Mobo Supermiccro x10sba (http://www.supermicro.com/products/motherboard/celeron/X10/X10SBA.cfm) + 2 gb ram ddr3L 1333
today i just wanted to upgrade ram and add + 4 gb. The only difference is that the new ram stick (Crucial 4gb ddr3 1600) is 1600, but in bios i can see both.both are 1.35 v.
when i try to load pfsense 2.2 amd64 with both sticks it dies on loading kernel.
If i use only 2 or 4 gb it works fine.I also tryed to boot from usb and reinstall system and it dies when loading kernel.Any clues?

Nope - You need to pull out the RAM stick you like the best, lay it on its side. Write down the EXACT model written on that stick and order one EXACTLY the same.
If you just ordered a stick of that, you could go back to your last purchase and order a second of the exact same also. Either way. -

Are you also mixing and matching oil and brake fluid in your car? Don't do that either.

You can usually mix different memory sticks together. What you need to do is make sure that all the memory timings, speed, volts etc. are set to the slower modules specifications.

Both are 1.35v.by default any mobo will used both @ the operating speed of the slowest of them, but will work.in bios i see 6 gb but kernel dies…this is unusual.

From the manual for your motherboard.
Be sure to use memory modules of the same type, same speed,
same frequency on the same motherboard. Mixing of memory modules
of different types and speeds is not allowed -
Still…it works on linux kernel and Ms. In any case is not big deal...new same model 4 gb is on the way.

That analogy may be a little extreme. ;)
Closer to running 10w30 oil and topping it up with 5w10. You shouldn't do it but it's unlikely to cause a problem. If it does though your dealer just going to turn around and say 'well we said use this oil and you didn't so no replacement engine for you!'.
I have run dissimilar memory modules successfully many times however I couldn't recommend it for a production environment.
