Video Chat Issues (skype/hangouts)
-
For the past 2 weeks or so we have been having trouble getting video chat (skype/hangouts) to work properly. The issue popped up all of a sudden when users on the other side of our calls were having about half of our audio cut out. We can see and hear them with no issues.
Up until a week ago I had PFSense 2.1 virtualized under ESXI. Hoping that this would fix the issue, I decided to upgrade my system and put PFSense 2.2 on brand new dedicated hardware (custom built). The exact same problem persisted. We tested this before implementing traffic shaping/caching on the new hardware but these dont seem to make a difference either way.
We have Comcast 170/20 here. Its very strange that this would pop up all of a sudden like this. No configuration changes were made during the time that this issue began and we video chat here daily. Even in audio only mode, skype/hangouts still display this problem. Its worth noting that Skype/Hangouts never show any connection issues on either side of the call, we always have full green bars. On a side note, we run a teamspeak 3 server in the house that has not had any issues at all.
Possibly unrelated: One of our household is an avid League of Legends player and at the exact same time of this issue, started having frequent ping spikes (~1700ms) during his games, making it unplayable. Other MOBA style games work fine though.
Can anyone off up some insight into this problem?

Bump. Can no one offer any insight into this? Any debugging tactics?

Debug with your ISP?

My roommate works for Comcast, weve already gone through every support tool they have. It was no help.
