      Afternoon Guys,

Got this link from stephen yesterday : https://sites.google.com/site/pfsensefirebox/home/XEBIOS_81.BIN but can't access it, unsure if it's corporate firewalling or a bad link, is there anywhere else it's kept, zipped up perhaps?

Attached file on that page is 512kb, is that the correct file size? I've tried writing it to my 256MB CF card 3 times, twice with physdiskwrite and once with win32 Image Writer, and it looks to write OK, but very quickly (I suspect there's a hidden error that's not displayed somewhere). x750e doesn't appear to recognize it, enumerates NICS, then waits indefinitely.

Tried several time but no beans. I'm missing something silly here… :(

Indeed I was, opened the BIOS image I got for B6/B7 and added the bin file to the available BIN's in the BIOS folder.

Have sorted the BIOS update now to 8.1. Replaced the 4GB CF card that was booting but failing to complete, and now the system appears to hang after the PCI component review, no boot loader, no options, just sits there. As it goes through POST, it appears to recognise the card in the IDE device enumeration, but just doesn't appear to go any further.

Have tried booting with Putty set to 9600, tried again with it set to 115,200, and tried changing on the fly. Screen doesn't change from the PCI enumeration.

I have read that the 8.1 means no IDE device tweaking to have it recognise the CF card. Anything I'm missing?

I'm looking for the boot loader 4 sec countdown to add the config line for v2.2, but haven't seen it yet :(

Did you clear the cmos when you flashed the BIOS?
If you has a custom chs setting before the update it will need to be removed.

                Steve

Many thanks Steve, just saw this, no, I hadn't cleared the CHS settings, I'll try again this aft if I get chance. I did set all to Auto for the drive, assuming it would rescan the disk afresh, but if it still holds that config, that would prevent boot. I'll report back with results.
