Server load balancing port - SLBD/HOSTSTATED
-
We're looking to replace our combination of Cisco PIX and LocalDirectors with PfSense. I have two questions:
-
Has anyone done this using PfSense (1.2beta2) and SLBD? We need to load balance servers for port 80/tcp, 443/tcp and 25/tcp. Any comments on stability, bugs, limitations are appreciated.
-
Since OpenBSD 4.1 appears to now include HOSTSTATED (http://bsd.phoenix.az.us/node/60) instead/in addition to SLBD, will PfSense also be looking to replace or add HOSTSTATED?

Yep. Works great.

Yep. Patches accepted to help us speed up the process.

My fault, always helps to do a bit more reading before posting…looks like HOSTSTATED is by same author(s) and replaces SLBD - http://spootnik.org/hoststated/. Hoststated will be included in future versions of OpenBSD from 4.1 onwards and includes improvements in support of https.
Does PfSense 1.2beta3 include SLBD or Hoststated?
