      Hi all,

My wan connect via pppoe. My provider assigned as gateway 10.0.0.1 ! This is not an issue cz i have defined as monitor 8.8.8.8
Problem is that from time to time i have the gateway offline and it doesn't reconnect until i do it manually. Can this be automated?

      pfsense 2.3.4 on Supermicro A1SRi-2758F + 8GB ECC + SSD

      Happy PfSense user :)

        Hello,

Check if the PPoE settings are stored in the interface advanced options.

          same config on mine :)
for some reason…after a random period of time (working) it just dies...and is not able to reconnect.

Run a traceroute. See if there's some piece of hardware in your ISPs network that responds to pings and is closer to you. It has to be something that your traffic always goes through though (or at least is always accessible).
Using 8.8.8.8 should still work though. Does apinger mark the gateway as down?

Do your ppp logs show it going down and trying to reconnect?

no is just stuck there as down.If i just go to Interfaces -> wan-> then apply without any change it reconnects.

It seems that I have a similar problem at one of the sites where I have dual wan ( PPoE and wan 1 and static ip on wan 2). Backup link is over 3G router , slow, but working.

I have received a  notification by email " WAN01_PPPOE is down, removing from routing group dualnet.

Pfsense 2.1.5 32 bit installed on a 2GB kingston usb memory, embeded version with vga ( intel atom D2500cc).

I can't login remote as the second wan doesn't have a public IP :(.

I will check the logs tomorrow.

                    BR,
                    Adrian
