Zotac ZBOX ID91 / issues with WLAN but great throughput!
-
Hey guys,
just bought a ZBOX ID91 cause of the 2 GB NICs and installed pfSense on it.
If was wondering if the onboard Realtek NICs deliver real Gbit, but the results are very good. Also with IPSEC enabled (AES-NI with AES-GCM) I got 96MB/s downloading a file over http and sending data with iperf gave me 450Mbit!

http://www.routerperformance.net/routers/nexcom-nsa/Downside:
- The wireless card is not recognized by pfSense, I'll try to compile a driver by myself (if available for FreeBSD) and publish it.
- IPerf shows me huge packet loss for udp traffic, also when it's not encrypted, will dig into that, but if anyone has an idea, please share! :)

Ok, WLAN driver is Intel IWI 3160 which is not supported by pfSense/FreeBSD, also no source code for compiling and only linux binary version available. Tried the windows driver and ndisgen, no luck.
Seems that WLAN won't work with ZBOX 91

So is the WLAN soldered on or socketed?

Socketed I think (bottom right):

Don't want to skrew it off, cause I'll loose warranty and I'm not interested in WLAN that much.

Very nice. Thanks for the pix. Looks like half mini. I hear an Atheros in your future!!Ar5bhb92 would be nice dual band choice. You could always slip the intel back in if the box fails.
