[SOLVED] Changing Hardware reset Windows firewall policy ?
-
Hy,
I'm using 5 pfsense 2.1.5 & 2.2.1 on same hardware for differents clients.
When switching for a new version, i change the hardware after restoring configuration of old version.
Every time i do this, my network place are back on public by default on Windows Client (Pfsense is the DHCP Server). It's because mac adress of pfsense are not the same ?
Nothing i can do ?I don't want to change the default policy on my Windows…
Thanks
Guldil

When switching for a new version, i change the hardware after restoring configuration of old version. Are you talking about some virtualization??? Changing HW - how ???
P.S. MS support forums are here: https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/

yes this is normal. windoze detects the network by the mac address of the default route.
the only way to prevent this, is to change the MAC of your new lan-interface to be the same MAC as the old lan-interface

It's the "same" hardware, i have 5 firewalls : http://www.logicsupply.com/fr-en/components/barebones/intel-barebones/jbc373f38w
So i'll try to force "LAN Mac Adress" when switching hardware.
Thanks :)

Ah, lol… I though you have 5 VMs on one box and are messing with (virtual) NICs in there or something. :D
