      @Ramosel:

The pfSense_ng dashboard under Firefox on this system drops the "Help" section off the menu line and places it under the "System" section.

Yeah dude, delete the browser cache…

(Why's lighttpd on pfS still not configured to avoid this totally useless caching madness goes beyond me...)

Thanks, that was one of the first things I tried.  no joy.  But since you took the time to reply, I tried again.  no joy.

Strange, I pulled out an old Laptop that has CentOS with Firefox on it and it displays correctly?  It's just this new ubuntu box and firefox that seems to display the pfSense_ng incorrectly.

        Rick

edit: just checked  a few other theme options…  in code red the same display occurs, help is dropped from the main menu line and shows under system.  Under drop-down, help is gone from sight but exists under System if you hover...    I called a buddy who runs pfSense and he says he is seeing the same on his ubuntu/firefox.  Oh well, hopefully this is fixed in 2.2.1 or firefox 37

No, there's no such fix since the issue is 100% a cache issue for everyone so far. You clearly as special.

I came back a couple months ago (although technically to Netgate). It was fun experiencing urban ag, but ultimately felt I was better suited cultivating software :)

installing the Tahoma font fixed the issue…
I probably won't be using the machine I set up in the garage all that much on my network maintenance but niggling little issues like this really annoy me.  Sorry I wasn't more up on the issue's history.

Thanks, you guys are the great.

                      Rick

No worries. doktornotor experienced that bug first hand so I was a little surprised he had forgotten :)

                            I know… I know...  but, but... it's all the core team's fault  >:(  j/k

I have my 2.2.1 box built but waiting for them to resolve jflsakfja's copyright (un)infringement for his surricata doc before I put it in production.

So I'm just being lazy and waiting for his cookbook.
and building a new ECM for the Ferrari
and modifying the tractor to cut an access road across my mountainside
and cutting an access road across the mountainside below my home
                            and learning to fly quadcopters
                            and going to doctors
                            and...
                            retirement is busy!

i had the same problem  https://forum.pfsense.org/index.php?topic=85869.0
                              here is the Solution

                              http://makandracards.com/makandra/1258-install-the-verdana-and-tahoma-fonts-under-ubuntu-linux

Arial, Verdana, Tahoma, and similar “basic” Microsoft fonts are not included in a vanilla Ubuntu installation. You should have these fonts because many designers consider them to be universally available:

                              Arial, Verdana, etc:

                              sudo apt-get install ttf-mscorefonts-installer

                              Tahoma:

                              wget http://download.microsoft.com/download/ie6sp1/finrel/6_sp1/W98NT42KMeXP/EN-US/IELPKTH.CAB
                              cabextract -F 'tahoma*ttf' IELPKTH.CAB
                              mv -f tahoma*ttf /usr/share/fonts/truetype/msttcorefonts/
                              chmod 644 /usr/share/fonts/truetype/msttcorefonts/tahoma*
                              fc-cache -v
                              rm -f IELPKTH.CAB
