      Hi,

First timer trying to install pfsense on home-built system.  I have read some of the installations docs and there are a variety of h/w configs which one can install to.  However, I didn't see a hardware configuration quite like mine.  This PC box has these pieces to work with:

AsRock AM3+ motherboard model N68C-GS FX
      AMD Athlon II X2 270 CPU 3.4GHz
      Patriot PSD22G8002R PC6400 2GB memory
      nVidia GeForce4 7025 onboard video
WDC WD5000AAKS 500 GB SATA HDD
Syba SATA2CF SATA adapter + Transcend 266X 4GB CF chip
      DVD/CDROM drive
Linksys PCI NIC w/ DEC 21140 chip
      Rosewill PCI-e NIC w/ Marvell Yukon-2 88E8040 chip
      3COM 3C795 PCI FDDI NIC
onboard nForce GigE NIC w/Realtek RTL8211CL chip

I have used the SATA2CF adapter + 4G CF in a Linux MythTV system for 4 yrs+ and
it works well as a poorman's SSD.  I simply flashed the ISO onto the CF using dd.
Hoping to be able to use that sort of setup here as well.

Any recommendations as to which install method would be
      best?

      advTHANKSance

You don't want the ISO (LiveCD)

You want one of the embedded installs - an .img

        Specifically, for a 4G card:

        pfSense-2.0.2-RELEASE-4g-amd64-nanobsd.img.gz

<edit>or pfSense-2.0.2-RELEASE-4g-amd64-nanobsd_vga.img.gz if you prefer a screen to a serial port for 30 seconds worth of setup.

        pfSense on i5 3470/DQ77MK/16GB/500GB
