I have reviewed every existing post or doc related to this topic. I'm looking for a way to preserve Automatic Outbound NAT Rules Generation

      a few examples:
      http://doc.pfsense.org/index.php/Accessing_modem_from_inside_firewall
      http://forum.pfsense.org/index.php?topic=55895.0
      http://forum.pfsense.org/index.php/topic,22330.0.html

There are several different approaches based on pfsense version and interface type. I have gotten this to work but it required that I change from Automatic Outbound NAT rules creations to Manual which I find undesirable.

There was another thread that talked about creating an additional gateway that did not require changing to Manual but it wasn't complete enough for me to get anything going. It said something about the gateway being set to the IP of the Modem and it required a virtual ip.

Another dealt with an addition OPT interface but that depended on having a PPPoE setup which I do not.

IT SEEMS LIKE THERE SHOULD BE A SIMPLER WAY TO DO THIS THAT PRESERVES THE AUTOMATIC RULES GENERATION FUNCTION.

I can change the Modems settings if that would be of any help…

      My setup is Pfsense 2.0.2
Bridge mode Adsl service (not PPPoE  so there is no virtual interface)
static WAN IP from ISP (example: 208.268.34.20)
      simple two NIC setup
Modem web gui IP is 192.168.1.254
Lan is setup for 192.168.0.1 range of addresses

There's no other option, have to have manual outbound for that.
