      I've tried everything from command line to apps on various *nix OS'es to Windows and Mac with no luck. Nothing is playing nicely with the i386 2.2 RELEASE image.

      On either OS X or 2012r2, what program should I use to install the ISO onto a 4GB USB drive so that I can do a fresh/clean install? Everything is failing.

      Thanks for any help.

        The official instructions are available in the documentation wiki linked from the pfSense support page.

        I use the i386 mem stick image and either Win32 Disk Imager or USB Image Tool.

          Apologies –I'm an idiot. I have two coffee mugs full of USB flash drives: one good pile and one bad/dead/dying/junk pile. (they are not labeled and they are identical mugs)

          I was trying to install the ISO onto bad media. Moderators feel free to delete this. Sorry to waste space on the boards.

          NOYB thanks for the reply so quickly. I've been using pendrivelinux/YUMI with no issues (when I try to install to good media  :P ) for years...

            Do you also have a can full of pens that don't work sitting next to a can that does?

              Why would anyone keep bad media??  The pen example is perfect ;)

                @pf2.0nyc:

                I'm going to impersonate a 4 year old.  Why?

                Isn't the trash can the proper place for those bad ones?

                Workspace clutter is a pet peeve of mine.  Everything takes longer.  Much of the time because finding what is needed takes longer than the task to be performed.

                  Those are the ones you give out to people you don't like when they ask for a flash drive to "borrow" :-)
