Openvmtools broken
-
There was some work in progress there. It's been bumped to _12 now, which addresses some, but not all of the issues. It's been fixed to not install things that are part of the core OS, though still needs some review which I'll get back to tomorrow.

Chris,
Thanks for the reply. I updated to _12 but found that the old kernel module details were still in loader.conf and vmware_guestd had not loaded. I cleaned up loader.conf and rebooted and vmware_guestd still didn't load. No error messages were logged.
I ended up removing the package and reinstalling. Everything seems to be working again now without having to hack any files or run any commands to get the scripts to work.

its still downloading _9
Downloading https://files.pfsense.org/packages/10/All/open-vm-tools-1280544_9-amd64.pbi
And if you look here there is no _12
https://files.pfsense.org/packages/10/All/
edit: While I don't see a _12 and it still downloads _9 the install seems to have been corrected. I installed on my clean test vm of pfsense that is right after the wizard completion and does install. And was able to shutdown the vm with shutdown guest without any errors.
But why does pbi still only _9 ?
-
I get this when doing kldstat from diagnostics -> command
-
I see the same when running kldstat. But ESXi sees the tools running and a remote restart worked correctly after I uninstalled/reinstalled. I don't see any errors in the logs either.
-
But why does pbi still only _9 ?
To confuse the enemy… Christ, this PBI thing is such a heap of shit.
-
The package version and PBI version don't necessarily have any relation. I changed the versioning scheme of the package to _9_x since it was confusing people. The _9_4 version that's out there now resolves every open bug that had existed for this package.
Christ, this PBI thing is such a heap of shit.
that has nothing to do with PBIs in general. They're going away soon though, Renato is a good deal of the way through that work.
-
Is that going to be 2.3 then??
-
-
For the record I just installed the tools on the 2.2.2 pf.
It installs_9 but says in the package rep. that its _10

:D
Thanks. Seems logical…..HAHAHA

The versioning makes no sense and sadly it's getting worse.
