ITX case recommendation?
-
Looking to upgrade from my Neoware CA10 build.
I have this hardware, recycled from another project, just need a case to put it in:
Motherboard: MSI AM1I
CPU: Sempron 2650
RAM: 4GB DDR3
NIC: HP NC360T low profile dual Intel PCI-E
Storage: 2.5" HDDLooking for something small, maybe external DC Power supply.
Recommendations?

This is probably one of the smaller sized cases you'll find with a PCI expansion slot:
http://www.logicsupply.com/c292/It looks like it even comes with a 120w PicoPSU, but only the 20-pin model. You'd need a 24-pin PicoPSU. You would also need a PCI-e riser board, since it only comes with a PCI compatible one.

Thanks. I ended up with Antec ISK 300-150. It's not the most compact case, and it has an internal power supply, but everything fits into it, and it fits into my networking hardware cabinet just fine.
The best news is that the hardware I installed in it runs like a scalded cat compared with the old Neoware box. That hardware was hitting its limits with a 50x5 cable connection.. able to maintain the speed of the connection, but the web interface was practically unusable during max throughput.
iperf tested (just on the LAN, not through the firewall) was maybe ~180Mbps with a dual intel PCI NIC. With the new hardware, I can approach 950Mbps. Should be good enough for the 150Mbps cable connection I have on order.
Thanks,

What's the idle/loaded power usage like?

for the price difference, go to an athlon 5350
anything works. if you want to use the pcie slot for say an intel lan card, you need something that supports it.
thermaltake core v1

i would go for the asrock board as it has 4x sata, making it more future proof.

M350 miniITX case is one of the most used cases together with a Pico PSU.
