Symmetrical Pipe and poor Upload speed
-
Hi All,
I have a 50M Symmetrical internet pipe (so 50 down 50 up) I can get the 50 down, however there seems to be a limitation to the upload speed. Is there a way to tweak this?
I have it installed on a physical machine running the current version.

what hardware do you have it on. What speed do you get up? How are you testing these speeds? What do you have in front of pfsense? Where are you testing it from?

Ibm X3330 with 6g ram
Broadcom NetXtreme Gigabit Ethernet Controller
right now we are cut off at 20 -25 MI have a Sonicwall NSA running in front of the pfsense, only using pfense for squid proxy
testing from speedtest.net.

Turn off the proxy and any other packages that may interfere with your testing.

yeah I would take the proxy out of the equation first and see if you have the same speeds.

yes turning off the Proxy fixes the issue, But I need the Proxy in place. is there no "tweaks" in squid that can be made??

Getting rid of it is a pretty good tweak anywhere. :P

The configurations options in squid are vast… Just my opinion but not really a fan of running a proxy on my actual firewall.. If you require a proxy then I would do that on its own setup.. If you have a firewall in front of pfsense - why don't you just setup a squid box? Seems odd to me to run pfsense just to get squid going, since squid is a addon package to pfsense and provided more as convenience.. I would move your question to the squid forums or the package section this forum.
Do you have any delay pools setup in squid?
http://wiki.squid-cache.org/Features/DelayPools?highlight=%28delay_pools%29This is normally how you would limit speeds..
Out of curiosity why do you "need" squid or a proxy in general?
