      Hi All,

I'm currently looking at building myself a cheap pfsense box using the following components

      Motherboard: ASUS H97I-PLUS
      RAM: 8gig
Extra NIC: Intel EXPI9301CTBLK gigabit controller
      CPU: Intel Pentium G3260 http://ark.intel.com/products/87356/Intel-Pentium-Processor-G3260-3M-Cache-3_30-GHz

From my searching I can't seem to find the G3260 mentioned if anyone is using it or even compatible, what I do find is a whole lot of forum search results that for some unknown reason don't contain G3260 in the contents.

My plan for the pfsense box is:

      • keep it cheap (so the SuperMicro A1SRi-2558F is out of the question as its very expensive where I live)
      • Run 2 openvpn client connections on it
      • Run snort
      • Currently it will be working with a adsl2+ 5megabit connection
      • Going forward I'm hoping to be able to use it for a 100megabit connection

I think the CPU will be more enough, and I think it will be compatible, but hoping someone can confirm this ?

      Thanks,

      Craig

But the Intel G3220 3,0 GHz is named and so it should be that your G3260 is also running fine.

All should be running fine only the Snort packet perhaps press you to insert a SSD or mSATA.

The G3260 will be fine on a 100Mbit connection along with Snort, Dansguardian.. etc.
