Re-attack on an old topic

Months ago, I posted a question about running this display in one of the 5 1/4 bays on my home built pfsense box:

On that question, I never really received an answer on how to get it working and I am hoping to re examine the issue. Currently it is connected via a on motherboard USB header and when booting pfsense, it says it is plugged into a ugen1.3 port which is not listed in the drop down of the LCDProc menu. I think is because for whatever reason, when you plug it in, that port disappears from the drop down list.

Here is a pic of the drop down and available choices:

Can it be that you must at first create this port in pfSense that you can then see it in the drop down menu
and use it after doing this.

Is the USB port on the mainboard perhaps disabled in the BIOS?
Or is this a so called shared USB port? Sometimes USB on the back side must
be disabled to use the internal USB Ports then.
Did you proper connect the USB cable to the USB header on the mainboard?

Everything is enabled on the motherboard. The chord is plugged into the standard USB header in the second row with 4 pins and the ground next to the blank pin on the second row. I uninstalled the LCDProc and installed the LCDProc_Dev version and ugen1.3 is listed there.

And now you have to chose this ugen .1.3 out and you must try out the driver and the other
options that should be used. If you have luck you will bring it up to work otherwise it would
be a good thing searching at first what is supported.

When I first posted this months ago, I had probed the internet looking for answer but came up with very little. Some suggestion were made about coding but I really have no experience with that at all. I had come across this but have no idea what to do with it.

Ok the how to under the link is matching Linux and not FreeBSD where pfSense is based on!
Could be similar but it is not a must be. So you can now only try out the drivers from the drop
down menu, each for another and also the other things you are able to configure out.

So you know how many rows and columns your LCD is owning and so on and so on you must now
inserting all things or plain try it out, their is also a hardware site where you would be able to see
which hardware is supported under pfSense since version 2.2.2 (FreeBSD 10.1)

You buy a LCD screen and then you get it working or not, what should be really talked about
that, for sure you will be get more response if this would be a supported device as I see it right.

Perhaps you will find out, that your LCD screen hardware (chip) is based on another one
that is really supported! And then you could try out the settings from this supported device
matching the same chip in yours! Would be at least the only way to find it out.

This particular screen I purchase several years ago for use with my gaming PC. Recently, I upgraded to a cube style case that has vertically aligned 5 1/4 bays and having this in there look weird. Since building the pfsense box, I thought I would try to see if I could use it in there but I am starting the gather that it is not compatible. What I do know is that in a windows environment, this display require a software program running in the background to actually output information to the screen. It's this fact alone and the trouble I have had with it thus far that are pointing me in the direction of not possible for this one. I was hoping though that someone else had experience with it and could steer me along but I am starting the think otherwise.

For sure a try out, will be the best at all, if one other driver and settings are matching you are the lucky one
if not you have to wait that someone fix it or you should be forgetting it at all.

Have you gotten this LCD to work??? I also have one of these LCD screens and haven't got it to work. If I can't get it work in the next week, I will order a crystalfontz.
